This Sunday 28.4.2019 at 20:00, a screening of the surrealist classic by one of the greatest visionaries of cinema, Luis Buñuel – L’Age d’Or. Growing out of the surrealist movement, the script was written with the painter Salvador Dali until political disagreements made Dali drop the project and it was finished by Buñuel. The film was banned eventually by the Paris police “in the name of public order”.
The experimental narrative follows passionate lovers whose desire is up against the modern (1930’s) bourgeoisie morality, the church and the hypocrisy of contemporary ideology. Following the surrealist motives, Buñuel, in provoking an understanding of human desire, attempted to see beyond the usual given ideology and morality through sumbolic experimentation.
